What This Is
Shark fishing with
your feet in the sand
Land-based shark fishing means what it sounds like: no boat. We meet on a public beach at dusk, rig heavy conventional tackle, and paddle a whole bait out past the first sandbar on a board. Then the rods go in the spikes and we wait. When something picks it up, you're in the harness and the fish is yours — and every yard of line has to come back from the sand. You don't need gear and you don't need experience. You need to be willing to stay up late.
Shoreline Giants is owner-operated and in its first season. That means one group a night instead of four, and it means the person who answers your message is the person standing next to you on the sand.

A Night on the Sand

Meet at Golden Hour
We link up at a legal public shoreline — Haulover, Virginia Key, or a night-window beach between Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale — right as the light drops and the beach empties out.

Rig and Brief
You watch the leaders come together and learn why every crimp matters. Then the safety brief and a permit check before anything goes in the water.

Baits Out by Paddleboard
A whole bait gets paddled out past the sandbar in the dark and dropped. Back on the beach, the rods go in the spikes.

The Wait
Clickers on, underwater lights glowing in the wash. This is the part of the night where the stories come out.
- 05
The Run
When a clicker screams, you clip into the harness, dig your feet into the wet sand, and hang on. Your guide talks you through the whole fight.

Release and Photos
Hook out, gills wet, a few quick photos, and she swims back into the dark. Watching her go is the best part of the night.
There is no boat to chase her with. Whatever line she takes, you have to earn back standing in the wash.

Florida protects 29 shark species. We fish for the fight — never the kill. Protected giants are unhooked in the wash and never leave the water.
What You Need
Legal on every
beach we fish
A license and a free permit. Every angler 16 and up needs a Florida saltwater license — free for residents fishing from shore, about $17 for three days if you're visiting — plus the free Shore-based Shark Fishing Permit and its online Shark-Smart course. It takes about 30 minutes, and we send the links and walk you through it.

Is it safe?+
You stay on the sand. The shark stays in the water. Your guide handles every leader, every hook, every release — you never touch the business end. The safety brief before the first bait covers exactly where to stand and what to do when a fish is on the beach.
Do I need experience?+
No. The harness carries the load and your guide talks you through every stage of the fight. You don't need to have ever touched a conventional reel before.
What if we don't hook one?+
Sharks are wild animals and nobody honest guarantees one. What we control is where and when: we fish the night windows and seasons the fish move on. If the night goes quiet, that's fishing.
What does it cost?+
$450 for the night — that's the whole group, up to four rods, 4 to 6 hours on the sand. It's our first-season price. There's no deposit and nothing is paid through this site; you pay on the night, however's easiest — cash, card, Venmo or Zelle. Bringing more than four? Tell us in the request and we'll work it out.
